Last year I was working under the fast food award. Being 19 I was paid on junior rates, despite serving alcohol and being a restaurant supervisor. I’m from Melbourne, but was living in Sydney for University. When it came to look for another place to lease in 2023 as my accomodation was closing, I couldn’t afford any rentals. I had to move back to Melbourne so I could live with my mum, as I had no where else to live. This was particularly devastating as I had to change universities, which I really didn’t want to do.
